My oldest nephews, Jackson and Cooper, came to visit over the weekend, accompanied by Jennifer and my mom of course. They came down on Thursday night so they could hit up the Children's Museum on Friday (before the weekend rush). So Thursday we David grilled hamburgers and the boys played outside a little, despite the sweltering heat.

After dinner, Jackson wanted to play Wii. Cooper can't really play at this point, but he LOVES to watch. So Jackson and David did some Mario Kart racing. Then Jackson broke out the big guns (literally) for a hunting game. And that's when we all got involved. I was exhausted after working all day and knowing I had to get up early to do it all again Friday morning, but I couldn't resist seeing how my hunting skills compared to David, mom, and Jennifer. Jackson doesn't count. He was better than all of us because he'd played it so much. It was pretty funny seeing everyone take turns with the gun. We'd whoop and cheer when we did well, and there was a lot of "Switch your gun!" and "There's a deer on the right!" and "Shoot it, shoot it, shoot it!" We're crazy.

Like I said, the boys went to the museum all day Friday while David and I went to work. They had been a few years ago when Jackson was about 5 and Cooper was 2. So of course they had WAY more fun this time around because there was a lot more for them to do.

Building a statue with Nonna.

Two little dinosaurs snuggled up in their dino nest.
When 5:00 rolled around on Friday, I was so ready to come home and start my weekend with family, only to come home to this....again:

UGH! It goes without saying, I was in a foul mood for a while after I got home. This is the third time our mailbox has been hit because of the speed bump they put it in, in front of our house. This time, the car hit it so hard that most of its headlight ended up in our yard. After looking up the part's serial number, we now know to watch out for '94-'96 Honda Accords. We filed a property damage report with the police, not that that will do anything. But we felt better having done something rather than nothing. And if we see that Accord....oh buddy...watch out!

But I digress from the great time we had over the weekend. We played more Wii (of course), and I'm embarrassed to say my shooting skills did not improve overnight. I wish we could have these visits more often!! For now, I'll have to settle with frequent trips to Kentucky for soccer, baseball, and football games. I can handle that! :)

  1. 1. I can't believe how big those boys are getting.
    2. My family would be doing the exact same thing with that game on the Wii!
    3. Looks like a great weekend, despite the mailbox situation. :)
