Ta da! I’m still here. Lately I’ve received some stern demands to update the blog. As I’ve told David, it’s hard to find things to write about when: a) you don’t do anything all day, and b) you’re not in a happy place. But here it goes anyway.

So what has the family been up to since the last post? Well, I spend my weekdays searching for jobs, running errands and doing chores (although less than I what I should be doing), cooking dinner, reading, and watching movies. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? In a lot of ways it’s not bad at all. Kind of like an extended vacation or an extra long holiday break. But I’m getting anxious to get things back to normal. The job search has been fairly promising in terms of opportunities. I was applying for about two jobs a week, which gave me hope. Unfortunately, none have yielded an interview (with the exception of a promising phone call last week that I’m hoping went well enough to grant me an in-person interview this week; yet to be determined), which is disappointing and quite a hit to the ego. The last two weeks have been slow, and I haven’t applied for anything since April 14. I’m hoping the lull in the job market will turn around soon and I can get back on track.

In the meantime, I’m finishing up with this semester of school. I’m done with class for now and have only a take-home final to complete this Friday and Saturday. I’ll have a nice break this summer because I’m only taking one class, and it doesn’t start until June 22. Then I’m scheduled for two classes in the fall and one next spring to complete the program. Yes! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

About two weekends ago I went out to visit my friend Becky for four days in eastern Washington. It was a much-needed chance to get away from Indy to just relax and have fun. I hadn’t been to Washington before, and I really liked it. The mountains and landscape were beautiful, and the weather was perfect. We spent one day on a wine tasting tour. Becky’s husband Rich was nice enough to tag along as our designated driver for the day. I tried some new wines that I had never had before, so now I have two new white wines that I LOVE (Gewürztraminer and Viognier). Great wines for the summer! I wasn’t able to stock up because I didn’t have room in my luggage, but I did bring home one bottle. By the time we reached winery #5, I was done. I don’t know how much I drank, but it felt like a lot. So I gave up early in order to avoid the onset of any nausea. The rest of the days we spent a lot of time outside. I read two books, got a lot of affection from their two 9-month-old labs, and ate way too much food. It was a really great trip, and if it wasn’t so darn far away, I’d go back and do it again next month.

As far as I can tell there hasn’t been much new in David’s world. He’s studying up a storm in preparation for his level 2 CFA exam on June 6. Dave and Connie were in town two weekends ago (while I was in Washington), and I heard it was a good visit. I heard they spent Saturday landscaping Kirk’s yard, and Chase helped by scaring away the geese. Then he crashed in the flower bed.

Last weekend was a lot of fun. We had game night last Friday at Kirk’s house with Laura, Russell, and Lindsay. That lasted until 1 a.m. Then on Saturday we all went to a fellow Phi Psi’s wedding downtown. The ceremony was at 11 a.m., so we all met for breakfast at Le Peep before heading over to the church. It was a good day, but I have to say probably the longest wedding ever. The ceremony was over by noon, so we all headed to a friend’s apartment nearby to hang out (and drink, of course) before the reception, which started at 2 p.m. Dinner was at 3:30, followed by more drinking and some dancing until we were all kicked out at 9:00. David and I were home by 9:30ish and went straight to bed because we were so exhausted. Here are a few pictures from the wedding.

I can’t think of anything else that’s been going on. David had a CT scan last Friday on his abdomen because he’s been having some abdominal pains. We haven’t heard the results yet, but we’re not worried that it’s anything too serious. He’ll get the test results this Friday. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all is well.

Well now. I believe this extra long post may make up for my lack of blogging recently. I’ll try to do better next time. :)
