Yippee for snow!! We finally got lots and lots of snow yesterday. Mommy said we were only supposed to get 1-3 inches ('cause that's what the weatherman told her), but when I woke up this morning, there was 10 inches on the ground......and it was still snowing!! I had to fight my way to the corner to find a good potty spot. I like it in the corner 'cause it's safe there.

Well, Daddy got up and get ready for work while Mommy laid in bed watching the weatherman on TV. She kept calling someone, not sure who, and then she yelped so loud I nearly rolled off the bed! She was happy 'cause she got a snow day and didn't have to go to work. And then Daddy found out he got a snow day, too! Yippee!! But instead of crawling under the covers, like I would have preferred, Daddy wanted everyone up and out of bed to shovel the driveway. So I got my winter coat on and headed out to help.

After a while I got the shivers, so I got to warm up inside while they finished up. Then Daddy went out back and started clearing paths for me. He's so good to me!! I love it now 'cause I can do my border patrol and take potty breaks without having to hop through snow that's taller than me. I got a good workout this morning trying to run through the snow with Daddy. I think I'll take a good long nap this afternoon while Mommy finishes her homework and Daddy goes to work (despite his free snow day). I thought he'd want to stay and play with me all day, but he says he's gotta bring home the bacon. Mmmm......bacon.

David and I have started watching a new show on Showtime called United States of Tara. We hadn't even heard of it until after it premiered. When we saw the commercial for it, we immediately programmed it into our DVR so we could check it out. We watched the pilot episode last night: hilarious!! The show follows a wife and mother of two, Tara (played by Toni Collete from the movie Little Miss Sunshine), who has multiple personalities. Throughout the show her personalities appear and wreak havoc on her otherwise normal (well, maybe a bit dysfunctional) life. You see how her husband (Aiden from Sex and the City) and teenage kids deal with the chaos. I highly recommend you check it out. Click on the link above for more information about the show.

Though I do not write much at all on this here blog, I would like to take artistic credit for providing many pictures that the Mrs. uploads for your visual entertainment. I tend to snap anything and everything that catches my eye via my phone and then she has to sort through the numerous pictures I send to her.

Here are a few of my favorites of my favorite subject, all three taken with my old 1.3 megapixel cell phone camera when we were in D.C. Oct. 07.

Isn't she beautiful?

All week long I sleep, sleep, sleep
in anticipation of
the best two days of the week.

But this weekend was different, you see,
‘cause instead of two days with my parents,
I got three!

Saturday was cooold,
and the sun melted our snow,
but that didn’t keep me from border patrol.

And when that was done
I chased some birds,
then came in to warm up in the sun.

Sunday I watched football with Coon
but I think I fell asleep,
‘cause next thing I knew it was late afternoon.

I played with my tennis ball
and Hedgy and rabbit,
until I got tired of chasin’ ‘em all.

I chewed on my bone on Monday
and found a good hiding place for it,
but my parents found it anyway.

Mom and Dad kept their noses in books,
so I got to watch TV for a change;
Animal Planet was off the hook!

And now I have a good long nap in store
so when Saturday hits
I’ll be ready for more!

Despite a constant stream of freezing temperatures, nasty snow, sleet and ice, and all around crappy weather, the past two weekends have been a lot of fun. Two weeks ago we ventured downtown to a dueling piano bar called Howl at the Moon (one of my favorite bars in town, and where David spent a good part of his bachelor party a few years ago). One of David's fraternity brothers was in town, so the bar was hopping with the usual "Phi Psi + their girls" crowd.

Da boys: (from left to right) Chad, David, Ben, Danny, Steve, Matt, Kirk, Russell

Some of the girls: (from left to right) Emily E., Dana, Lindsay, Emily D., Holly

David and I pose for a picture....

before David heads to the dance floor to rock out with da boys.

This past weekend was much more chill. We both had a three-day weekend, and we took full advantage of it. Saturday we watched Butler (on TV) clinch its eighth straight win against UIC. Go Dawgs! The Butler game was followed by more college basketball (while I finished reading The Golden Compass on the couch). Then we watched the 2005 psychological thriller Hard Candy, starring Ellen Page from Juno. A good movie, but a little disturbing.
We spent Sunday morning doing a little shopping. We spent our Barnes & Noble gift cards on a couple of books for each of us. We also went to Circuit City to look at digital cameras (our Christmas present from Gigi and Boppa). In case you didn't know, the retail chain is closing its stores, and everything is on clearance now through March 18. Then after a boring trip to Target to pick up a few things, we had lunch at Bub's in Carmel, where David and his coworkers spend many a lunch hour. I've been listening to David talk about Bub's for a year or more, so I was really excited when he took me there for lunch. It's this local burger dive in a yellow house in the arts district of Carmel. This place is famous for its "Big Ugly": a monstrous 1 lb. beef patty.
The Big Ugly in all its meaty horror.

Patrons who eat the whole thing (including the bun) get their picture on the wall. And let me tell you, the inside walls are COVERED in pictures. David says they have to take them down and start over at least once a year. Well, as disgusting as I think it would be to eat a one-pound hamburger, I'm proud to say my hubby made it on the wall. He and a coworker accepted the Big Ugly challenge back in the summer, and we were so surprised to find their picture on the wall right near our table!
Here I am looking.....looking....looking......
..... found it!!

David didn't order the Big Ugly this time around, and neither did I! I opted for the elk burger, which was quite delicious and, according to the menu, low in calories, fat and cholesterol and high in protein! Of course the basket of crispy waffle fries we scarfed down with our burgers completely made up for my low fat burger. Oh well.
We made it home just in time to watch the start of the NFL championships. Again, I read on the couch all afternoon and all night while the games were on. I did the same thing all day Monday, too. I finished The Golden Compass (which I very much enjoyed), read all of New Moon (book 2 of the Twilight series), and made it about 1/4 way through book 3, Eclipse. Jen and Becky: I'm catching up!! :) Not bad for a three-day weekend, eh?

This year (or, technically, last year), the annual NYE bash was at our friend Steve's house. It was the usual affair: lots of food, lots of beer, the regular beer pong tournament, and lots of funny stuff in between. There were a few "firsts" this year that are worth mentioning:

1) For the first time, I was the only sober person there (for medical reasons; not because I volunteered), which was quite an experience. To say this was an interesting perspective would be an understatement. And of course because I wasn't drinking, I got a lot of pregnancy questions, which I was very quick to squash.

2) For the first time, Laura (Kirk's fiancee and soon-to-be newest member of this crazy family), was able to join the party! It was a lot of fun to have her there, and poor Kirk finally got to share a midnight kiss to ring in the year (one that didn't come from his sister-in-law....yuck!). :)

3) For the first time, David and I won beer pong!! For a lesson on beer pong, click here. We usually don't play well together, but this year we kicked butt! Some may say it was due to the intoxication of our competitors, but I think it was all skill.

4) For the first time, half the party was lights out by 2 a.m. Normally our NYE parties go well into the early morning. Is this what happens when you get older? I mean, come on people, we're still in our 20s. We should be able to make it past 2 a.m. no problem! Well, I'm happy to say that David, Kirk, Laura and I made it to about 4 a.m. (when I dropped everyone off for bedtime).

5) And, finally, for the first time, Connie and Dave got to sleep through the night. Past years have involved them driving our drunk butts home at odd hours of the night....er...morning. Well this year I was the one driving the drunk butts home, so Connie and Dave had the night off.

And that's about it for NYE 2008. Everyone had a great time, and I can't wait to do it again next year!!

Some of the boys smoke the cigars David and I bought for Kirk in the Dominican.

Our BFFs Russell and Lindsay.

Kirk and Lindsay get carried away (pun intended).

I'm pooped. We recently celebrated our THIRD Christmas in Indy when Grandma Connie and Grandpa Dave came down for a long weekend. It was fun. I spent most of my time at Uncle Kirk's house because that's where Grandma and Grandpa stayed. Grandpa and Uncle Kirk painted the kitchen, and I was good and just watched; I didn't try to help. But when it came time to open Christmas presents, boy was I ready to lend a paw. I thought Christmas was over, so imagine my surprise when I arrive at Uncle Kirk's house to see this:

Oh boy! I was so excited, I didn't know what to do. So many new things to sniff. I helped Grandpa pass out gifts.

But it got pretty crazy with so many people ripping paper off boxes and throwing bags everywhere. So after a while I just laid under the coffee table to observe; it's safer under there. Then, finally, I got to open MY present from Grandma and Grandpa. I love it! It's a green and red stuffed candy cane that squeaks. Sometimes I carry it around upside down and Grandpa calls me snorkel dog. I don't know what a snorkel dog is, but it makes everyone laugh, so I keep doing it.

I got lots of attention while they were visiting, and I hope they come back soon. Grandpa almost snuck me out when he was packing the car, but Daddy caught him and made him give me back.

I think Christmas is over now. Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa, for coming to visit and for my new toy and for playing with me a lot. But don't come back for at least two weeks 'cause I need to catch up on my sleep now.
