This post is a week overdue, but better late than never. My mom came up to stay with me for a three-day weekend over Mother's Day! David was leaving for Canada early Saturday morning for a week of intensive training in preparation for his CFA exam in June. What better chance to celebrate Mother's Day than having a whole three days to ourselves! :)

I got to show her our new neighborhood where we plan to build, and the model home of our new house. To our surprise, our new neighbors were at the model at the same time as us, so we got to meet and talk to them for a long time. They were really nice and we seem to have a lot in common, so now I'm even more excited to sell this house and get the show on the road!

I also showed her around Zionsville, where we had lunch at Friendly's Tavern (a favorite dive of Kirk,  Laura, David, and mine). We also went to Butler and bought some new Final Four shirts. And of course we had to stop by the Flying Cupcake so mom could try one. :)  We also went up to Clay Terrace (the outdoor mall in Carmel) for a bit on Monday since the weather was nice. And we got to visit with Lindsay and Corwin for a little bit, too.

The rest of the weekend was spent walking Chase or tiring him out in the back yard, playing a LOT of Monopoly Deal, and watching movies.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures from our weekend together! I'm so terrible about this picture thing. Lindsay did get a great picture of mom and Corwin though. :)

We had SUCH a great time. It was so good to have some time for just the two of us. Hope your Mother's Day was just as special. And a belated Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there.

After a week filled with thunderstorms and flooding, we were relieved to see the sun show its face this weekend. And the timing couldn't have been better because Kirk and I had to cheer on Laura at her flag football game on Saturday.

Laura played in Indy's first-ever Blondes vs. Brunettes event to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. I was thrilled when I heard she was playing and made a donation right away because this cause means a lot to me and my family because my grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's for many years.

Although, technically, I should've been pulling for Team Brunette, I was Team Laura, and therefore, Team Blonde, all the way. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with her football skills. She got an opponent's flag on her very first play and I saw a lot of hustle out there on the field. Unfortunately, the coach didn't play her nearly enough and Team Blonde lost 20-6. But we had a great time, enjoyed the weather, and supported a great organization.

While Kirk and I were at the game, David and Chase stayed home to study. I don't think Chase was too thrilled with the idea of being left at home because he pouted the whole time we were gone. Oh well. Next time, Chase, maybe you can come too.
