I'm a Fish.....
i'm getting better at my animal noises. i still think a cat says "moo," but i can quack like a duck, woof like a dog, roar like a bear, and blub blub blub like a fish.

I'm a Stud.....
don't tell mom and dad, but i have a girlfriend, anna, at school. daddy discovered our love affair when he dropped me off at school today. she was on her way to breakfast when she saw daddy take me to my classroom. her mom told her to go to breakfast and she said "no" and just stood in the hallway. then i put up a fuss because i didn't want to go into my classroom (even though i never act like that because i like to hang my coat up before breakfast). then anna came into the classroom and i ran to her, and we held hands and walked to the cafeteria together.

daddy says i need to work on my manners though. when we got to the tables, i took the only available chair and left her standing there. oops. daddy's going to teach me to be a gentleman, but so far it hasn't affected my current relationship.

I'm a Big Boy.....
today i used the potty at school! not only was it my first time on the potty, i did it by myself all day! my teacher told daddy that i went to the potty every time on my own and used it. i had dry diapers all day! mommy and daddy don't believe it because i won't go near the potty at home. i'm interested in it, but i refuse to sit on it. daddy thinks i used the potty yesterday because i want to be like the big kids in my class. that may be true; i haven't really thought too much about it. they're hoping i can keep it up, but we'll have to see.

But I'm Still a Momma's Boy.....
even though i'm growing up, i'm still a sweet little boy who loves his mommy and daddy. and even though i like to do things on my own and express my independence every chance i get, sometimes i just like to be a little kid who can still snuggle in and fall asleep on his mom on a Sunday afternoon.

my parents have decided to put me to work. clearly i'm underage, but they seem to like the free labor. i have to brag — i am a good helper. and i don't really mind working (i must get that from my grandpa). so i'll play along with mommy and daddy for a while....until i'm able to negotiate an allowance.

my official chore is feeding chase. i do it every night.

but i also like to get out the broom and help sweep the floor. i even know how to use the dust pan, although i don't have the coordination to sweep dirt into it yet.

mommy seems to think that me helping out around the house means she gets to rest. boy is she wrong!

Ford's latest trick: jumping. He loves to go around hopping and jumping, which David taught him to do. Again, another example of Ford's athletic prowess (jumping is a developmental milestone at 24-36 months old).

Jumping, closing the pantry door (who left that open anyway?!), and more jumping.

David and I have been very happy with his progress in the last few months. He has shown a tremendous amount of growth since he moved to the 2's at school just a few weeks ago, especially with verbal communication and understanding. He's finally shown an understanding of colors, which we practice in one of his favorite trucks books. Have I mentioned how much he loves trucks? David took him to Half Price Books a while ago and he could pick one book. Of all the books, the only one he showed any interest in was about monster trucks. hahahha I don't know where he gets that.

I digress. Tonight as he was jumping around the house, he was saying "jump jump jump jump." He also has taken a liking to jumping off the bottom of our stairs, which I know is an early sign of trouble to come. His adventurous spirit hasn't waned a bit. He has gym time at school now, and I can only imagine what he does during activity time. This week he's played on the balance beam and tumble mat. It's a good thing I'm not there to supervise because I would be in panic mode the entire time; I worry way too much about him getting hurt to let him have any fun. haha

Despite his affinity for action, when he does sit still, he always does it with a book. Thank goodness he still loves books because that is something David and I can relate to.

And, finally, because I can't help myself, here is one of our many camera outtakes I came across today — Ford was being really shy for some reason when we tried to get him to wish his grandpa a happy birthday.

what a busy weekend! grandma and grandpa came down to see me and help uncle kk with his housewarming party on saturday. you probably remember me or mommy talking about kk and laura's new house. well they've done a nice job on it, so it was time to invite all their friends and family over to see their new home. and what a party it was! there were about 50 people there, including kids my age, some little babies, lots of mommies and daddies, and some other big people that i didn't know.

a lot of my friends were there, which was fun. i played for hours with my best friend corwin and our friend rowan. we had a blast running around the basement and putting ice in cups and dumping it out in the cooler....over and over and over and over.

a lot of mommy and daddy's friends were there too, so i saw them having fun with them while grandma entertained me and my friends. mommy let me stay up really late. but i had three cookies for dinner (i kept sneakin' 'em off mommy's plate....hehehhehe), so i was okay. i started to come down from the sugar high when people started leaving, so i sat on grandpa's lap for a while and we watched college football.

it was a GREAT weekend! and the best part is mommy says we get to do it all again in a few weeks when all the families are here for thanksgiving!

Helping Grandma make food for the party. I love to help!

Sitting with my Grandpa and my new friend Chris. Chris is one of Daddy and KK's oldest friends from home.

Mommy talking about mommy things with Corwin's mom (left) and Rowan's mom (right). Cor and Ro are both expecting baby brothers or sisters in March and April!! Daddy told Mommy to sit in the middle so their new babies would rub off on her. Then Mommy gave Daddy "the look." Daddy's funny.

I was too hyped up take a nap today, so I konked out leaning up against Mommy's chair right before dinner. They had a hard time waking me up; I was too tired from all the fun!

last night I went out for my very first trick-or-treating! it was so fun! mommy picked me up early from school so we could get home in time to start the festivities. we went straight to corwin's house so we could go together. mommy made me put on this silly rhino costume, but i didn't mind. we had a blast running from house to house. mommy told corwin's mom she wasn't sure if i would like trick-or-treating. what's not to like?! i had no problem running around the neighborhood with my bucket. i didn't drop it once. and i liked picking out my candy (is that what it's called?). mommy doesn't let me eat candy at home, but i bet she'll let me have some of my halloween treats. i earned it!

i was very polite. mommy made sure i said 'thank you' and 'bye' at every house. and i did.

we left corwin's house early, which made me mad. but when we got home uncle kk and aunt laura were there! and that made me happy again. daddy, kk, and laura took me around to some houses in our neighborhood, and that was fun.

then before i went to bed, grandma and grandpa showed up! by then i didn't have my costume on anymore, and i was really sleepy, but i was glad to see them before i went night night. halloween is the best! i hope we get to do it again tomorrow.

"Ready, bud! Let's do this!"

"Hurry up, Cor! I don't know where I'm going."

"I don't know what these are, but I'm sure I'll like 'em. Cor, what'd you get?"

"It's so fun trick-or-treating together!"

"Ford, let's go to this house. I heard that other kid say they have good stuff."

"Hmm, which one should I get?"

"Wow, Cor. This is hard work. My bucket is heavy!"

"Mommy, look what I got!"
