My mom and I had a great reunion over the weekend. We went down to Tennessee to celebrate the wedding of our former neighbors from Murray.
We moved into our house on South 17th Street in Murray, next door to the Allens, when I was in the second grade (I think). We lived there up until the time when my parents moved to Henderson during my junior year of college, which meant there were a lot of years to cultivate great friendships with our next door neighbors.
It was lucky for me that we moved next door to a family with two girls around my age: Elizabeth, 1 year older than me, and Emily, 2 years younger than me. We grew up together -- played together almost every day when we were little, celebrated all our birthdays and holidays together, and experienced some pretty big ups and downs that life through our way. The Allens became as much a part of our family as we did theirs. And although Elizabeth, Emily, and I haven't kept in close touch, we will always have those years when we ruled South 17th Street.
Elizabeth, Carol, and Emily Allen

Emily and Wesley -- married!
