1) For the first time, I was the only sober person there (for medical reasons; not because I volunteered), which was quite an experience. To say this was an interesting perspective would be an understatement. And of course because I wasn't drinking, I got a lot of pregnancy questions, which I was very quick to squash.
2) For the first time, Laura (Kirk's fiancee and soon-to-be newest member of this crazy family), was able to join the party! It was a lot of fun to have her there, and poor Kirk finally got to share a midnight kiss to ring in the year (one that didn't come from his sister-in-law....yuck!). :)
3) For the first time, David and I won beer pong!! For a lesson on beer pong, click here. We usually don't play well together, but this year we kicked butt! Some may say it was due to the intoxication of our competitors, but I think it was all skill.
4) For the first time, half the party was lights out by 2 a.m. Normally our NYE parties go well into the early morning. Is this what happens when you get older? I mean, come on people, we're still in our 20s. We should be able to make it past 2 a.m. no problem! Well, I'm happy to say that David, Kirk, Laura and I made it to about 4 a.m. (when I dropped everyone off for bedtime).
5) And, finally, for the first time, Connie and Dave got to sleep through the night. Past years have involved them driving our drunk butts home at odd hours of the night....er...morning. Well this year I was the one driving the drunk butts home, so Connie and Dave had the night off.
And that's about it for NYE 2008. Everyone had a great time, and I can't wait to do it again next year!!
Some of the boys smoke the cigars David and I bought for Kirk in the Dominican.
Our BFFs Russell and Lindsay.
Kirk and Lindsay get carried away (pun intended).

At this rate, we will all be asleep before midnight by the time we hit our 30s!
