Ford celebrated his 2nd birthday on Wednesday with minimal fanfare. After having a blowout bash over the holidays, we kept his actual birthday low-key. This week has been completely crazy, so it was a good thing we didn't have something bigger planned. We were buried under a foot of snow on Sunday that was followed by two days of deadly temperatures (-40 degrees!). The ice and snow wasn't cleared from the roads until today (Friday). Needless to say, Central Indiana completely shut down for two days and we were holed up in our house Sunday to Tuesday. David and Ford went back to work and school on Wednesday — his birthday — but I don't think many children had returned to their routine. Suffice it to say Ford's birthday was....well....just another day.

Ford is 35.75 inches (85th percentile) and 26.75 lbs. (50th percentile). He's such a crackerjack; he keeps us laughing and smiling all the time. His favorite activities are reading books, working puzzles, throwing  or kicking a ball, and playing cars. He likes to give kisses and hugs with a pucker of his lips and a mmmmmmwah. He loves his "Chay," but has no problem disciplining him with a "no, no Chasee" (accompanied by emphatic finger pointing) or "Chay... HOUSE!"

He's the best helper a parent could ask for. He makes sure all doors or cabinets are closed; he puts everything in its place (for example, when we get home his shoes always go on the stairs); he helps with the laundry; he feeds Chase; and he picks up his toys (usually) when we ask him to.

Ford has started potty training, thanks to his teachers at school who started him off early. He's wearing big boy undies at school with minimal accidents (usually just once in the afternoon).

I can't believe how much Ford has changed this year, which makes me look forward to his progress in 2014. I miss my itty bitty black-haired baby sometimes, but I so love the boy he's becoming!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from his 2-year shoot! Enjoy!
