Weighing in at 19 lbs. 3 oz., Ford has turned into quite the little potato sack at 8 months old. He is coming into his own and shows off his personality in nearly everything he does.
He is all boy! David thinks he's going to be a little daredevil because he shows no fear. Wait. I take that back. Today he discovered the automatic flushing toilet, and it scared him to death. He cried and cried. So let me rephrase that: heights = no fear; falling = no fear; loud noises or sudden movements = no fear; toilets = SCARY. (We may have our work cut out for us when it's time to start potty training).
Likes at 8 Months:
- Still rolling, rolling, rolling. He wants to crawl, but he hasn't figured out how to lift himself onto his hands and knees at the same time. He's getting his knees under him easily enough, so maybe we'll have some forward motion soon.
- Peekaboo. This is a fun age because he's starting to understand how to play games and interact with people. If I hide behind a pillow, he peeks around to try to find me, then laughs when I pop up and say "PEEKABOO."
Dislikes at 8 Months:
- Meat. We tried pureed meat over the weekend. It looks and smells about as good as it sounds. I can't blame him for turning up his nose at it; I wouldn't want to eat pureed meat either. At the first try he only got down one or two bites. At the second try, Grandpa Dave masked the turkey with a little bit of pear, and he scarfed down the whole thing. So the jury's still out on whether he's going to enjoy meats as much as he does his other foods.
New Discoveries:
- Self feeding. Over the weekend we tried self feeding with finger foods and drinking out of a sippy cup. Neither were a great success, but he's getting the hang of it. The sippy cup may take a while; he kept letting go of it.
- Trying to escape from the crib. I crack up every time I walk in on this:
 |
| "Moooom, Moooom, Mom, Mom, Mom. Hi." |
8 Month Pictures:
 |
| "Cheeeeeeeeeeeese!" |
 |
| "Mom, what's Chase doing over there?" |
 |
| "Oh yeah, pictures. Ok, I'm ready. Cheeeeese!" |
 |
| "Was that a good one? Are we done now? I'm bored." |
 |
| "Ok, just one more, Mom. CHEEEEEEEESE!" |
 |
| "MOM...what is the deal? Give me that camera, I'll do it myself!" |
Loved it and really loved the captions under the 8 month pictures, lol.

Those automatic flush toilets make me jump sometimes, too! So, it's okay, Ford! And pureed meat sounds pretty nasty...I love his face in that one photo of him eating!
