There are a few things that I can always count on to feed my heart and soul:

  1. The laughter and smiles from my little boy.
  2. Being held tight by my dear husband.
  3. Some one-on-one time with my mom and dad.
  4. And getting away from everything (even for a few hours) with girlfriends.
There's something about being with a group of girls that I find healing and reinvigorating. I guess it's because I  (like everyone else) get so caught up in the everyday routine of things. There's always something to do; always someone to take care of; always a list running through my head of tasks to complete to make it through another day, another week, another month. I always end the month looking back and saying, "Wow -- where has the time gone?" And I know it's because we stay so busy just making it one day to the next.

That's why I cherish the time I get to spend with my girls. When we're together, everything else is forgotten for those few hours. We laugh, we share stories and experiences, and for a short time we can all just focus on one of our many roles as women: Friend. Most of us are wives and mothers, and being able to share personal things in our lives with other women in the same phase of life is refreshing. I always leave our Ladies Nights feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to go home to my family to be Mom and Wife again. I'm so thankful to have these moments with girlfriends here in town, while missing and thinking of other dear friends from afar. I love you all!

Here are some pictures from tonight's Ladies Night -- we did an at-home painting party, painting the Indianapolis downtown skyline. We were a small crew tonight, but had just as much fun, as always.
