Whirlwind Weekend

What a weekend! My mom brought Jackson and Cooper up to Indy for a visit. With David gone all weekend on a camping trip, it was up to the girls to entertain the boys. We went to the zoo on Saturday. The weather was perfect and the zoo wasn’t overly crowded. I think the boys had a good time. The only unfortunate thing was the lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) “weren’t available” (according to the signs posted near the exhibits) due to repairs in the lion and tiger exhibits (although we never saw anyone in the cages). As for the bears, someone told us they had died. Oops. Despite mom and I hyping up seeing the lions and tigers and bears to Jackson and Cooper, they handled the disappointment well. We saw a really great dolphin show that Jackson just got a kick out of. And he touched a shark, which I think he was really excited about too. They also really liked the polar bear, penguins, and elephants. My favorite, of course, was the monkeys. I could have watched them all day (there were several itty bitty babies in one of the cages that were just hilarious to watch), but the boys have a pretty short attention span. Mom got quite a workout pushing around a double stroller up and down the hilly paths all around the zoo. And I got some muscle tone from lifting and holding Cooper up at every exhibit so he could see at the same level as Jackson. After a great weekend, Chase and I crashed on the couch for an afternoon of much needed rest and recuperation.
