5. The sun is so hot it burns my arms on my drive home from work.
4. The birds sing / taunt our puppy outside our bedroom window from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
3. The humidity turns my hair into a wild mess of waves and curls.
2. David mows the lawn every week.
1. Weddings, weddings, weddings!
If it wasn’t for the weddings I would say cancel summer altogether! Okay, not true. But the weddings are certainly a big highlight during the summer months. This year was no exception. We kicked off the summer with Becky’s wedding in Pennsylvania.

Becky and Jeff (who graciously attended as my date since David wasn't there)

The old IFSA gang: Becky, Jeff, me, Becky, Kerry, Marie, Treva
The eight-hour drive was exhausting….for the driver (oh please, you know me, I slept the whole way curled up in the backseat). While I was gettin’ jiggy wit’ it in PA, David was taking his level 2 CFA exam (results to be announced mid-August). It was a great wedding (my first full Catholic wedding), and I was able to spend the weekend with some former coworkers at IFSA who I haven’t seen in a long time. I was honored to be one of the readers, but of course I couldn’t make it through without crying. Darn my sensitive tear ducts!
Next came Lindsay and Russell’s wedding here in Indy in July. For those who need a little history lesson, Lindsay was my best friend growing up, and Russell is David’s good friend from college (they met at our wedding, which I love to brag about).

During the ceremony

Kirk, Russell, and David

Vanessa, Kelly (Russell's sister), Lindsay, me, Shelly (Lindsay's friend from college), and Holly (Lindsay's nurse friend)

David’s parents and grandparents and my parents came in for the wedding, too, so we had a great time spending some time together as one big family.
Once again, my tears stood in the way of what would have otherwise been a phenomenal toast, but I made it through in under 5 minutes, so I’ll consider it a success.

All in all, it’s been a great summer! Chase doesn’t like the heat and apparently he has allergy problems (bless his heart, just like his father), but he loves all the birdies that frolic in our yard. I’m a busy bee as I finish up with summer classes (one more week!). And David is… well… David. He’s taking it easy until he finds out his score from the level 2 exam, then it’s back into study mode. He’s been a HUGE help as I try to survive Financial Management (which I hate!). The conversations around our house go something like this:
David: “So what are you reading about?”
Dana: “Crap.”
David: “So what did you learn in class tonight?”
Dana: “Crap.”
He doesn’t seem to think it’s funny. As much as I hate this subject (and maybe because I hate it so much), I have a real respect for anyone who can do this stuff because I just don’t get it. This stuff is way over my head. Give me a grammar or spelling question any day!
